Do You Have A Heart To Stop Human Trafficking And Slavery

Research, Insights And Information To Aid You In Your Desire To Change Lives

Awareness And Education Is Part Of Prevention

Human trafficking is modern-day slavery. It is the buying and selling of human beings for the purpose of using their bodies for sex and labor through coercion, control, domination, and manipulation.

There are a number of ways that people may become enslaved to human trafficking including:
-being born into this type of slavery,
– being abducted,
– being deceived by a person offering companionship or a romantic relationship and then taken captive,
– being sold by parents or family members,
– being conned or manipulated,
– being made to believe that they will be getting a job and then faced with the terrible fact of being lied to and deceived.

Human trafficking has affected both the young and old, male and female and it has crossed all geographical boundaries.

…’Thus has the Lord of hosts said, ‘Dispense true justice and practice kindness and compassion, to each other; and do not oppress or exploit the widow or the fatherless, the stranger or the poor; and do not devise or even imagine evil in your hearts against one another.’… Zechariah 7: 9-10

The most vulnerable are little children who are most suggestible and controllable. Poverty, starvation and lack of work make people more vulnerable to being coerced if they believe that there will be an income and a paying job involved.

Rescued From Trafficking - What Happens Now?

Relief, Rescue and Recovery

Rescuing those who have been trapped in this horrific form of slavery involves a number of factors. There is the job of research, reconnaissance and rescuing those who have been held captive, along with what needs to take place when the rescue has been accomplished. There needs to be a safe place for the rescued victims to go and receive counseling, help, and support for their trauma. There also needs to be training and rehabilitation so that they will be able to join society and support themselves and any family members by having a steady income. The importance of ‘awareness’ can not be underestimated as many people are not even aware that human trafficking exists, how it occurs, signs of it happening and practical steps to take once it is identified. Alleviating poverty is also a crucial part of eliminating trafficking. Browse the articles on the site.
