These ‘blog’ posts are presented as thoughts for one to consider on one’s journey in life. The posts are written in hopes of encouraging, inspiring and helping anyone taking the journey towards reaching their greatest potential and helping others do the same.

Familial Abuse

Some of the most devastating abuse that one can be subjected to is“familial abuse”.

In these tragic circumstances, trust is shattered. One may suffer abuse by the words or actions of a stranger, but when one experiences abuse by a family member (especially a close family member) the brokenness reaches even deeper into one’s heart. Betrayal is always at the heart of this type of abuse.

Guest Article: Church Abuse Issues

Every church and every Christian organization is somewhere on a continuum, from healthy to cult-like. Here are a few of the dynamics to watch for to help you know if a church or Christian organization is approaching cult-like-ness to a greater or lesser degree. I want to emphasize that as long as things are going well in the life of a church-goer, these rules for the most part won’t be tested.  It is usually only when there are problems in a person’s life that these negative characteristics will become noticeable.

The Misuse Of Scripture

Scripture is revered in the eyes of many as it should be, but sometimes people tend to think that using, ‘Scripture’ is always appropriate. If Scripture is spoken at the wrong time, in the wrong manner or out of context then quoting or using Scripture could cause more harm than good. There are times when quoting the Bible is absolutely needed and essential, but this article is about when it isn’t the right time. Before one thinks that this is blasphemy please continue to the end of the article for the full explanation.

The Thievery Of Abuse

How Abuse Steals

This article is presented to shine some light on the various ‘thieving’ components of abuse.

If we are to find and provide real and lasting solutions for those who have been abused then we need to understand the various impacts of abuse. We need to know what is needed for healing to come to those who have suffered abuse, by first realizing the effects and consequences.

Why The Little Things Matter

Sometimes the smallest and tiniest things cause some of the biggest and most far-reaching results. This article is about why the little things ‘really do matter’.

The ‘butterfly effect’ is based on a theory that the smallest changes can cause very large consequences in another place in time and space, even from great distances. Edward Lorenz is associated with this term due to his theory and metaphorical example of the forming of a tornado being directly influenced by tiny movements of a butterfly’s wings at a distance several weeks earlier.

The Healing Balm Of Gentleness

The Importance Of Gentleness In Trauma Care

Those who have experienced trauma need gentleness just as a burn victim needs gentle touch and care due to the nature of their injuries. Emotional, mental and spiritual trauma may not be visible with the physical eye (other than some symptoms) but the wounds are there even when one cannot see them visibly.

Someone could even be smiling on the outside while feeling like dying on the inside. Gentleness is crucial when dealing with trauma to the soul.

People Start To Heal When They Feel Heard

Those who have experienced trauma and remain ‘trapped’ in that trauma are often those who have not had the proper, ‘aftercare’ required to help diffuse and deal with the negative effects of the experience.

Many times, it is not ‘just’ the ‘traumatic’ encounter that causes the long term effects, but the ‘lack’ of care (and needed processing) after it occurs. The proper care can help to ‘diffuse’ the overwhelming physiological, neurological, emotional and mental aspects of a traumatic event.

The Power Of Validation: For Emotional Healing

The need for validation is often mentioned with a ‘negative’ connotation, such as someone ‘seeking’ validation from others (especially from others who never intend to provide this validation even if they should).

Human beings are supposed to receive validation right at the beginning of their lives. Babies need validation for their immediate physical needs and this ‘need’ for validation runs throughout one’s life. If left, ‘unvalidated’ a person can suffer in various ways.

The Great Need: Homes For Abuse Survivors

This article is specifically written for those who are part of the Body of Christ (the Messiah).

The need for survivors of abuse to have a new home is extensive and the lack thereof has kept many survivors from being able to escape abuse and heal. One cannot always heal in the environment where they were abused or in an environment where there is a lack of support and compassion. The Body of Christ is called to demonstrate the love of God to others in need of help. Attention has been brought to the orphan crisis around the world regarding children who desperately need homes and yet there are also adult abuse survivors who need safe places to live.

Healed Heart. Healed Body

Proverbs 17: 22

‘A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.’

The human spirit is housed in the physical body to interact in this physical realm and dimensions.

If the spirit has been wounded or broken there will be an impact on the physical body because they are intricately connected.

The proverb states that a broken spirit dries up the bones. How many people suffer from brittle or weak bones and also have a wounded spirit?

The Body Has Three Brains

The body is also known to have three brains that impact the body. There is the head brain, the heart brain and the gut-brain. One’s beliefs, emotions, thoughts, environment, experiences, relationships and diet will impact all three.

Each of the three brains constantly communicates with each other. Studies show that the gut and heart-brain send more information to the head-brain which will impact one’s decisions.
